Dear Potential Supporter:
San Mateo High School has built a reputation for excellence in musical theatre and drama across many generations of students. While some have gone on to make a living in the performing arts, far more of our graduates have received great benefit from the lessons of teamwork, preparation, and poise developed on or behind our stage.
As recent testament to the reach of our program, SMHS’s 2008 production of RENT was the basis of a National Public Radio commentary on high school theater last year. But, academics come first at San Mateo High School, and aside from faculty salaries, the program receives no direct funding from the school district or state.
Our entertainment value is treasured by many theatergoers in the community: a Sunday matinee of Peter Pan last season actually sold out the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. However, tickets and concession sales for two musicals and one play per year cover only 60-70% of our annual operating budget. We depend on fundraising, donations and sponsorships to make up the difference.
Sponsorship can bring worthwhile benefits to our sponsors. Consider:
- Favorable exposure to local audiences
- Goodwill among dedicated, achievement oriented students (cast, crew & musicians) and their families
- The satisfaction of knowing your business has contributed to the preservation of the performing arts at SMHS
- An evening of quality entertainment
- Prominent mention in our program
- Graphic display of your logo and links from our web site, which you can visit at www.smhsdrama.org
- Signage in our lobby
- We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Volunteer organization. Most forms of support should qualify as tax deductible.
- Tax ID: #94-3123215
We can work with you to determine the best option you can choose in helping us:
- Show co-sponsor
- Performance sponsor
- General Donations
- Specific need sponsorships
- Advertising in our printed programs (download form)
- In-kind donations
Please contact us to discuss these and other opportunities supporting San Mateo High School Drama. Thank you.
