Meet Chip, Schwarzy, Coneybear, Barfee, Marcy and Olive: six overachievers competing for the spelling championship of a lifetime. As they deal with raging hormomes, parental issues, and mystifying word roots, our six young heroes learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. This hilarious musical will have you cheering for a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

Directed by Brad Friedman, Musical and Vocal direction by Emily Dunham.

Children's Advisory:
While the overwhelming tone and feeling of "Spelling Bee" is innocent and playful, the musical does include several words and some references that parents may find inappropriate for children. Therefore, we are giving it a "PG-13" rating!.

Many thanks to everyone who auditioned. You made our decisions very hard and reminded me of how lucky I am to work among such talented young people.

Our first company meeting will be for cast and crew, along with a parent, on Monday, August 30, at 6:30pm in Room E116 (in the old gym building next door to the health class.) The meeting will last about an hour, followed by a read-thru of Act One for the actors and a short meeting for the crew. Please bring a check to cover fees (scripts for actors, tech dinner and company party for all, t-shirts, videos, etc.)
