Welcome to
SMHS Drama's 2006–2007
Mainstage Season!
After last year's fantastic shows, and capped by Hello Dolly's American
Musical Theatre honor for
Best Bay Area High School Musical, the Company has a tough act to follow this season.
But consistently excellent presentations are the tradition here, and our
performers, crew, and staff are excited to deliver productions that we
hope will live up to our reputation.
Screaming
from the cover of the Weekly World News and
onto the
SMPAC stage this Fall will be Bat Boy—The
Musical October 26–29,
2006.
Suspend disbelief for a couple of hours, and let the
company take you to an
Off-Broadway tabloid reality. When a half-boy, half-bat is
captured in a West Virginia cave and brought to the nearby small town as
a pet, the unrefined inhabitants are in for a wild
ride that ranges from tragedy to comedy to horror. Set to a variety
of rock music and coated with a veneer of irreverence, Bat Boy is not your Grandmother's
musical...
They're gonna
repossess my double-wide: Ned
You know we
wouldn't leave you Off-Broadway for
very long, and our big winter musical
will be a big show indeed, with big characters and even bigger tap
numbers. Based on the 1967 Oscar Award winning film and winner of
six Tony Awards on the Great White Way, Thoroughly Modern Millie is the story of a young girl
from Kansas who comes to New York City in search of a new life in the
Roaring 20s. Thoroughly Modern Millie takes audiences back
to Manhattan at the height of the Jazz Age when women were just
beginning to enter the workforce and rewriting the rules of love.
Presented February 2–11, 2007.
From
May 3–6, 2007, our Spring drama promises to be both powerful and
thought provoking. Set in the 1930s deep South, To Kill A Mockingbird
will take you to a place where the pace, activities and social interactions
are vastly different from our own. Exploring the worst and best
of the human spirit in a racially divided society, the Company will strive
to bring this classic work of literature to life, true to the intensity
of the novel.
You will not want to miss any of these
shows! Order
your Tickets now, and check back here in the future for
more information.
